Overview
The Pocock Rowing Club seeks an experienced and highly motivated Rowing Coach to lead our Men's Masters Competitive Rowing Team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in rowing, a passion for coaching, and the ability to inspire and guide athletes to achieve their full potential. This position requires effective communication, strategic planning, and a commitment to fostering a positive and competitive team culture. The team competes at local, regional, and national regattas in Spring and Fall. Many athletes are former D1 rowers and adept scullers.

Hourly: $23.00 - $31.00 per hour depending on experience

Part-time hourly position with year-round on-the-water practice three days per week from 5:30 AM – 7:00 AM (Average Hours Per Week: 8 – 10)

Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and travel to regattas.

The Pocock Rowing Club (PRC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to the growth and support of rowing experiences for adults in the Seattle area. The PRC offers a broad portfolio of programs: Learn to row, rowing skill development, competitive teams, health, well-being, coaching education, adaptive rowing, and social events. The PRC strives to be an inclusive and inviting organization supporting rowing as a pathway for longevity and a lifelong community.
Responsibilities

Training Program Development:

Design and implement a comprehensive training program tailored to the specific needs and goals of the Men's Masters Competitive Rowing Team.

Create periodized training plans that include on-water sessions, land-based workouts, and strength training.

Foster a supportive and collaborative environment for athletes to maximize their potential.
2. Technical Coaching:

Provide expert technical coaching to enhance rowers' skills, technique, and overall performance.

Conduct regular video analysis sessions to identify areas for improvement and provide constructive feedback.
3. Competition Preparation:

Organize and oversee regatta logistics, including race entries, boat assignments, and equipment preparation.

Develop race strategies and tactics to optimize performance during competitions.
4. Team Leadership:

Serve as a mentor and leader, instilling a sense of discipline, dedication, and teamwork among team members.

Foster a positive team culture that promotes sportsmanship, respect, and camaraderie.

Additional responsibilities will include management and recruitment of team coxswains, assisting with new member onboarding,

Maintain open and transparent communication with athletes, staff, and colleagues.

Provide regular updates on training progress, upcoming events, and any changes to the training schedule.
6. Safety and Equipment Maintenance:

Ensure the safety of athletes during all training sessions.

Oversee the maintenance and care of rowing equipment, ensuring all boats and gear are in optimal condition.
Qualifications
(if not current, must obtain within the first 30 days of employment)

2-4 years of previous coaching experience in competitive rowing

Current Red Cross First Aid, AED, and CPR certification

Current Boater's License

Current SafeSport Certification
-
Eligibility to work in the US
